Flexibility for God’s Kingdom

Let me first introduce myself: my name is Jordie van Asselt, I’m 25 years old and married to Sharon.

In 2021 I made the decision to follow Jesus and resolved to do whatever He would ask of me. To grow in my relationship with God, I attended a prayer school. During this time I received prophecies that I would leave my salaried job and become flexible for God’s Kingdom. I thought it was a strange idea to just quit my job, so I put those words aside, thinking: “If God wants it, He will make it clear to me.”

Two years later I attended an evening about hearing God’s voice. To my surprise, God spoke to me there: “Quit your job and start your own business.”

Could it really be that God wanted me to resign? What about finances? What kind of work should I do? What is God’s plan? I decided to bring it to prayer together with my wife. Resigning from your job is such a big step!

In the weeks that followed, I prayed that God would confirm His word. I spoke with my team leader and said to God: “If this is Your will, then You must open the doors.” I had never experienced conversations going so smoothly, nor my workplace being so accommodating. I thought: “God is opening everything up!”

A growing peace came over me concerning what God had spoken, and I decided to take concrete steps. I asked Him what my business should be called and came to the name Living Light Techniek. In March 2024 it became official when I registered with the Chamber of Commerce.

I was still in salaried employment, though. Handing in my resignation felt difficult. At the same time, God was also speaking about buying a house, and it didn’t seem like the logical moment to quit my job. We placed everything in His hands and prayed for His guidance and answers. And He gave them.

In a remarkable way we were able to buy a house, and in the meantime I have resigned from my employer. Recently I started working for myself and am now flexible for His Kingdom exactly as God had spoken from the beginning!
