Jesus as Lord of my physiotherapy practice

My name is Mattheo van der Horst. I’m married and a father to three wonderful children. Two and a half years ago, I started my own practice in Doornspijk, where I work as a physiotherapist.

At the time, God clearly spoke in my thoughts that I should contact a specific man in Doornspijk the one who had previously owned the practice. At first, I didn’t do it because I was afraid. But that same week, after receiving several unmistakable signs from God, I finally sat down for coffee with this man without telling him why exactly I was there. He told me he had prayed for God to send someone to whom he could hand over the practice. Without God’s guidance, I would never have taken those steps but His blessing was upon it!

God is the most loving Father there is, and He speaks to us if we take time to listen. That’s why I start my mornings in silence, to hear what God wants to say to me. I’ve noticed that when I hold onto control, earthly things happen. But when I hand the reins over to God, miracles happen every week. Without Him, I could never run this business.

“Without God’s guidance, I would never have taken those steps!”

At one point, I even hired two receptionists before I had any work for them because God said to do it! I acted in faith, and now they’re running the administrative side of both practices.

We now also have a practice in Nunspeet. For that acquisition too, I involved God alongside a financial advisor. The counteroffer we received was three times higher than our initial bid. Still, God told me to accept it. I did so in faith, and the selling party later chose a price halfway between, because they were so touched that I was doing all this together with God.

The name of the physiotherapy practice is Kurios, which means “my Jesus, my Lord.” He will lead the practice and care for the staff. God often shows me when someone isn’t doing well. When staff members feel the need, I pray with them. Not everyone in the team is a Christian but I’m here to bear witness, not to convince.
