Coaching children with the Holy Spirit

Door: Lotte Bloem

Kinderen coachen met de Heilige Geest

Together with my husband Manuel, I, Lotte Bloem (39), have the joy of raising three wonderful teenagers. This is our most important ‘job’. In addition, I run my own practice, where I coach children with God by my side.

Before children (or their parents) begin a coaching journey with me, I pray and ask God for direction and vision. I write the impressions I receive on a little card. More often than not, those insights perfectly capture the heart of what we’re meant to do.

I also begin each year with prayer and fasting, seeking God’s plan for the year. First, I write down my own plans. Then, I ask what God’s plans are. That process has led us to buy a piano for our daughter, has led me to get baptized, sparked a training for children (Stronger through Jesus), helped confirm whether I’m still in the right place professionally and now, I’m writing a children’s book filled with testimonies from children in prayer.

Alongside coaching, I also work in primary education, supporting children who speak Dutch as a second language. Six years ago, I started my first language class. At the time, I was taking a course called “Listening Prayer.” I was so excited to keep practicing that I thought: “Surely kids can do this too.” So I explained to them, “We’re going to pray for this girl. I’ll be silent for a few minutes so you can see if you receive something for her or get a thought.” They didn’t receive anything for her but they each got something for themselves!
